About Nay

Your ally when building in Thailand.

A senior Thai architect with over a decade of experience and someone who genuinely understands what it means to navigate the Thai building process as a foreigner.

“Building in Thailand doesn’t have to be stressful, costly, or confusing, but without the right knowledge or allies, it very often is. That’s exactly why this platform exists.”

Who She Is

The architect who understands all sides

Nay is a senior Thai architect who has spent over a decade designing residential and boutique projects across Thailand (on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Phuket), and beyond.

But what makes her perspective genuinely different is this: she has spent just as much time working with international clients as she has with Thai ones. She understands the confusion, the anxiety, and the very real risks that come with being a foreigner trying to build in an unfamiliar system.

She has seen the mistakes up close. The land bought without proper checks. The builder chosen on price alone. The design that looked beautiful but performed terribly in the heat. And she has helped clients avoid, navigate, and recover from all of them.

Specialist-Tropical-Architecture

The Knowledge

Tropical architecture is a specialism

Thailand’s climate (the heat, humidity, salt air, and monsoon seasons) demands fundamentally different thinking from Western architecture. The way a building is oriented. How air moves through it. Which materials hold up over decades and which quietly deteriorate.

This is not knowledge you find in a textbook. It comes from years of working on real projects in real conditions, and from caring deeply about how a building actually performs for the people living in it.

Nay designs buildings that work with the climate, not against it. Homes that stay cool, stay dry, stay strong and remain genuinely comfortable for the long term.

The Ethos

Be prepared. Not just hopeful.

Most of the stress and expense that comes with building in Thailand is avoidable. Not all of it, but most of it. The projects that go well are rarely luckier than the ones that don’t. They’re better prepared.

That preparation means understanding the land before you buy it. Knowing what to look for in a builder. Understanding how the permit process actually works. Having a clear picture of what good construction looks like and what to do when something goes wrong.

That is what The Tropical Architect is here for. Not to make the process sound simple. But to make sure you are never caught off guard.

“I’ve seen what happens when people go into this without the right support. It gets expensive and stressful very fast. If you assemble a good team and have an experienced ally looking out for you, the difference is remarkable and the results are so much better”.
